Help Toys for Tots |
|
**** ATTENTION ****
HELP NEEDED FOR TOYS FOR TOTS COLLECTION!
Brother Lt. Stolberg(2B) has once again taken the time and dedication to get the Frederick County Professional Firefighters Local 3666 involved in the annual Toys for Tots fundraiser. We now have station representatives at each of the career staffed firehouses within Frederick County; however, we still need assistance with the toy collection on December 12, 2013 (A-Shift). If you have a truck, a trailer, or access to a utility from the station which you are assigned and can assist with this process, your help is greatly appreciated. Everyone assisting will meet at Station 31 at 09:30 hours to coordinate route/riding assignments, then be on the road by 10:00. In years past, we usually wrap up collection around 16:00 and lunch is usually provided.
Anyone available to assist, please contact Brother Stolberg via county Email @ lstolberg@frederickcountymd.gov
Thank You to all the station reps as well as everyone who has already signed up to help with collection. This is a great P.R. event for the local as a whole.

Assistance for Brother Rentzell |
|
ASSISTANCE FOR BROTHER RENTZELL & FAMILY
Katharyn Rentzell, wife of Brother Chip Rentzell(8-B) is in need of assistance. Katharyn has suffered for a period of time from several medical complications including:
- Acutely Severe Cardiac issues
- Peptic Ulcers
- Gastro Paresis
- Fibromyalgia
- Asthma
- Migraines
- Severe Cental Sleep Apnea
Katharyn is to the point now where she is recieving her nutrition, hydration and medications via IV through a mediport implanted in her chest. This process takes approximately 12-16 hours each and every day. Katharyn also recently had a pacemaker installed.
On top of Katharyn's medical complications, the Rentzell's youngest son suffers from Severe Cerebral Palsy and they're middle son is being evaluated for an Autistm/Asperger's spectrum disorder.
The Rentzell family is now in need of our assistance to help alleviate some of the burdens they have taken on from these issues. They are in need of home renovations to make they're home wheel chair accessible for their youngest son and financial assistance to help the family make ends meet in this rough economic time. Due to Katharyn's condition, she is not able to work her job as a registered nurse and the family is forced to live on Brother Rentzell's income as a Frederick County Professional Firefighter.
Please visit the link below for more information about the Rentzell family and information on assistance.

Lieutenant Steve Pugh, 12-B Retires |
|
On the Thursday June 30th 2011, Lieutenant Steve Pugh, assigned to FS12 in Braddock Heights, ran his last calls as a Lieutenant for the Frederick County Department of Fire Rescue Services. After 20+ years of service with the county, Steve has decided to retire and move to the home he has invested countless hours of hard work restoring to its former glory, in Southern West Virginia. Steve started his career in the early 90's with the Emergency Communications division of the Fire Department before making the switch to the operations side of the house. Steve spent many of his years as a fireman at FS02 in Uptown on A-shift before promoting to Lieutenant and serving the past 4 years at FS12 in the Heights. Steve is best known for his sarcastic humor, especially at Union meetings, and his exquisite culinary touch in the kitchen of every firehouse in which he worked. Steve "Mr. Pugh" we wish you the best in your retirement and look forward to seeing you when you visit Maryland.

FF Chris Mahall Retires |
|
Wednesday December 29th 2010 marked the end of an era with the retirement of Firefighter Chris Mahall of FS03. Chris started his career in July of 1990 at FS07 in Middletown and held that assignment for 7 years before finally getting the call to take the position on B-shift at FS03, where he would end up working his remaining 14 years. On Wednesday, the guys from FS03 arranged to have several vistors from surrounding companies as well as the command staff during the lunch hour to wish Chris farewell. For one last tour Chris took his favorite position as the RS Chauffer, and like many days was kept busy with "the usual" including an extrication and medic locals before wrapping up with a working fire in 11's area. Throughout his tenure with the Frederick County DFRS, Chris never lost the desire to perform the job to the best of his abilities and loved nothing more than going to fires. With the retirement of FF Chris Mahall, the department not only lost a model employee but a great deal of fireground experience. Though the sweet smell of Chris' Marlboro 100's will no longer linger in the bay of FS03, the memories and good times will last a lifetime. Chris we wish you the best in your retirement and the doors are always open brother!

L-3666 Makes Donation to Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund |
|
As many know last year the L3666 designed and marketed a pink T-shirt to show our support for Breast Cancer Awareness in the month of October. The Local was able to sell over 600 of these shirts in a very short period of time raising a little over $6,000 dollars. The Board of Directors of the Local searched high and low for a local business' or charities to donate the money the proceeds. With the help of the Frederick Memorial Hospital Cancer Center, they were able to put us in contact with the Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund. The Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund, unlike some other cancer funds, uses 100% of the donation toward the cause, with no money going to admin fees. The Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund is dedicated to providing the FMH Cancer Center with the most up to date equipment all purchased from donations such as this. With October right around the corner, look for the 2011 design soon! the L3666 has set a goal to raise $10,000 this year. Help make the goal a reality by supporting the L3666 Pink shirt sales. Anyone interested in a shirt can contact Brother Frank Malta at 240-409-2807 or via email at Eng25ine@hotmail.com

TOYS FOR TOTS |
|
Due to deployment to Afghanistan, the 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion of the USMC, located in Frederick, Maryland will be unable to single handedly hold the TOYS FOR TOTS Program this year. Normally they would have approximately 60 or so people to help out, but due to the deployment they will only have 5 people. We, the Local, have volunteered to step up and help out those who are sacrificing so much for our country as well as the less fortunate children in our area. This commitment will require little effort on your part. I am asking that you obtain permission to utilize your station as a drop off point for toys from the volunteer corporation you are assigned to. Once this is obtained, the only other thing I need help with is getting the word out to the community. I will bring you the supplies, and will pick up any items you collect as needed. If you could get back to me by the 11th of November it would be greatly appreciated. The local will then forward the locations to Sgt. Wolbert who will coordinate a press release including the locations and times that citizens can drop off toys. Any Questions regarding TOYS FOR TOTS contact Brother Stolberg at 240-367-7767
