On Thursday, November 30, 2017, The Career Firefighters Association of Frederick County Maryland, I.A.F.F. Local 3666, deliverd 125 American-made coats to local area Frederick County public schools and daycare centers.
In September, the Career Firefighters Association of Frederick County Maryland partnered with Frederick County Public Schools and Operation Warm to identify several schools in need of assistance. F.C.P.S. was able to provide a list of four elementary schools to the Career Firefighters Union in an effort to raise money to purchase the warm winter coats from the Operation Warm charity.
The Frederick County Career Firefighters compete in an annual flag football game against the Frederick City Police, F.O.P. Local 91, to raise money through donations from local businesses and attendees. The annual event, now referred to as the Public Safety Turkey Bowl, has been a tradition since 2015, raising over $13,000.00 since its inception. This year, during the 3rd Annual Public Safety Turkey Bowl, held on November 11, 2017 at Ballenger Creek Park in Frederick, the Career Firefighters were able to raise $6,000.00 to purchase warm coats for local children.
